Description:

In response to federal peer review, the Idaho State Department of Education Assessment Division has revised the former Alternate Assessment for the ISAT in all four content areas: Reading, Language Usage, Math, and Science. This revision is according to Extended Content Standards which correspond to the Idaho Content Standards. The assessment has been renamed: the ISAT-Alt. We have been working with content area, curriculum specialists, special educators, consultants, and higher education personnel to revise the former checklist assessment. This new assessment is a portfolio system. The ISAT-Alt has been designed to allow for the submission of electronic data to the newly designed online system called I-PASS (Idaho Portfolio Artifact Submission System) and will allow for submission of artifacts in any of the following formats: digital video, digital photo, scanned, as well as faxed documents. The ISAT-Alt Resource Guide, as well as the ISAT-Alt Handbook, will be released November 16, 2009, with seven regional trainings to follow during the first weeks of December.

The training will cover:

  1. ISAT-Alt Participation-Eligibility Guidelines
  2. ISAT-Alt Resource Guide
  3. Data Collection Sheet
  4. Assistive Technology Guide
  5. Opportunity for teachers to share concerns, questions, and instructional ideas
  6. FLIP digital camera hands-on session

Note:

  • The FLIP camera (provided by the State Department of Education Assessment Division to those teachers administering the ISAT-Alt for use on the assessment and for classroom purposes) will be checked out to the teachers in attendance, but must be registered with the State Department of Education through the District Testing Coordinator for accountability purposes.
  • At the very end of the workshop we will have a time to share instructional ideas, materials or techniques you have found helpful. I would like each teacher to bring one idea to share. You can bring the actual curriculum resource to display, create a handout or give a brief demo. We will split into grade level groups and I will video archive these resources for others to view.
  • If you have your own laptop please bring it to the workshop.
